[vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″ id=”” class=”post-content” style=””][text_output]We do it ALL the time. Every year, especially on New Years Day, we make resolutions. This year, I will definitely exercise more, or this year I will read more books or save more. But we rarely ever keep promises we make to ourselves. It is easy to make the commitment but hard to keep it. The problem is that we are trying to point our lives to a place where our heart is not.

We make up our minds to study but when we are to do it, there too many reasons why it becomes too hard. Strangely, things that are hard for us are not difficult for others. There was a young man in Jamaica who grew up with his mother as his only parent. She was very strict and very poor but he really hated Mathematics. Even fear of his mother didn’t help him to study math.

As expected, when he did his final set of exams, he failed 7 of his 8 exams and only passed one. Of course, he had to inform his mother, so swallowing hard and trembling, he approached her. He told, her “Mom, I am sorry but I only passed one – English and I failed mathematics” Then he braced for the usual verbal attack. Surprisingly, she was very calm and appreciated him for trying.

He was tremendously relieved, so when she asked to go and do some household chores he was elated. But soon he started to feel like the household helper because she had him serving his brothers and sisters. He was cooking and cleaning and the began to call him, Manderella – the female Cinderella. After 3 months of this, he couldn’t bear it so he asked his brother to teach him math. It was painfully difficult but he had to set his heart, either become a servant or learn math.

Today he has a Masters Degree in mathematics, he just had to set his heart. Mathematics was never the problem. In his heart, he didn’t have to do it. Given the choice between servitude and math, math was better so he did it and liked it. Our hearts have to first be set on where we want to be. Our lives will flow to where our heart is set.

The reason why we can’t keep resolutions is that they are just words until your heart is there, your actions will struggle to follow. If you find it difficult to do something find out if your heart is really there. If it isn’t, set your heart and your life will follow.[/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″][vc_raw_html]JTNDc3R5bGUlM0UlMEEuZW50cnktdGh1bWIlMjBpbWclMjAlN0IlMEElMjAlMjAlMjAlMjBtYXgtaGVpZ2h0JTNBJTIwNDAwcHglM0IlMEElN0QlMEElMEEucG9zdC1jb250ZW50JTIwJTdCJTBBJTIwJTIwJTIwJTIwdGV4dC1hbGlnbiUzQSUyMGp1c3RpZnklM0IlMEElMjAlMjAlMjAlMjB0ZXh0LWp1c3RpZnklM0ElMjBpbnRlci13b3JkJTNCJTBBJTdEJTBBJTNDJTJGc3R5bGUlM0U=[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]
