Somewhere along the line, I felt like I lost myself. I suppose being caught up in the world’s prototype did that to me. From as long as I could remember I have always wanted to just fit in. For a long while, I wanted to be the person that others wanted to be around and would always welcome with a smile. Instead, whenever I looked in the mirror I saw someone who was just different. Different from the popular girls, different from the girls on TV and the magazines… just different. I didn’t like that. As soon as I entered college I made a vow that I would change my identity. So I did the whole makeup, chopped off my hair to what I felt was more fashionable and had an entire wardrobe change. I must admit, it worked … for a while. Although it got me accepted in a fairly “cool” crowd, I found I was suffering inside because this identity required constant upkeep. Before long, I became burnt out.

I ended up being more miserable than I started out. What I soon found out was that the true me was locked up inside waiting to come out. Who says that wearing glasses and having an awful laugh was a bad thing? I have learned to embrace the me that I am. Sounds strange? It did to me too… initially. We have always learned to be a certain design based on socially accepted norms. What is destroying us is our standards that are really breaking those who are seeming misfits.

These days I am so happy! I feel great because my heart has been set free. I am no longer the “me” that society wants me to be but I am able to truly make friends with my awkward personality. It’s actually quite refreshing.[/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″][vc_raw_html]JTNDc3R5bGUlM0UlMEEuZW50cnktdGh1bWIlMjBpbWclMjAlN0IlMEElMjAlMjAlMjAlMjBtYXgtaGVpZ2h0JTNBJTIwNDAwcHglM0IlMEElN0QlMEElMEEucG9zdC1jb250ZW50JTIwJTdCJTBBJTIwJTIwJTIwJTIwdGV4dC1hbGlnbiUzQSUyMGp1c3RpZnklM0IlMEElMjAlMjAlMjAlMjB0ZXh0LWp1c3RpZnklM0ElMjBpbnRlci13b3JkJTNCJTBBJTdEJTBBJTNDJTJGc3R5bGUlM0U=[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]
