[vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″ id=”” class=”post-content” style=””][text_output]We have said many times before that human beings are social animals. We feed off each other and living alone is not the wonderful thing that some people think it is. Our real problem is that we have become unable to manage stress. Dealing with people can be stressful; after all we are all different people with differing views and opinions. Even twins are different!
To avoid the stress, many people turn to pets. They are far less demanding and more willing to submit. People tend to insist their opinions and it makes dealing with them challenging because we insist our opinions as well. This creates a challenge as we don’t want to deny our opinions either.
Unfortunately, we end up with situations where people insist their opinions and we insist ours. The result is confusion and misunderstandings. Think about a difficulty you may have in communicating with your spouse, co-workers or friends. That difficulty persists because nobody wants to listen, just insist their opinions. Pets don’t do that!
The solution to most interpersonal conflicts is a connection. If I can put down my opinions and listen to yours, we will find there is little need for conflict. The rule of thumb is, to change the way someone reacts to you is to first change the way you react to them. Someone has to be willing to put down their opinion to create a connection.
Even the most difficult relationship issue can be resolved if we just open to another opinion rather than insist our own. When we are open, there can be a connection and the situation can change. That’s it! Open, Connect Change! So even if my mother is always upset and shouting, she does that because she thinks I am not listening. Once I can open and connect with her, she has no need to shout and the situation can change.
Pets are okay but they can’t really substitute for people. If we can develop the skill of learning how to connect, our relationships will change. Our lives can change. Even when we go to a restaurant, some people get better service than others, because they know how to connect with the person serving them. We didn’t learn this skill in school but it is not too late to learn it now.
If you have pets, love them, but don’t use them to substitute for people. Go out! Open, connect and change your world.[/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″][vc_raw_html]JTNDc3R5bGUlM0UlMEEuZW50cnktdGh1bWIlMjBpbWclMjAlN0IlMEElMjAlMjAlMjAlMjBtYXgtaGVpZ2h0JTNBJTIwNDAwcHglM0IlMEElN0QlMEElMEEucG9zdC1jb250ZW50JTIwJTdCJTBBJTIwJTIwJTIwJTIwdGV4dC1hbGlnbiUzQSUyMGp1c3RpZnklM0IlMEElMjAlMjAlMjAlMjB0ZXh0LWp1c3RpZnklM0ElMjBpbnRlci13b3JkJTNCJTBBJTdEJTBBJTNDJTJGc3R5bGUlM0U=[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]
