The fuse normally senses when the incoming surge of electricity is too much for the equipment; it then blocks its path to prevents the equipment from being destroyed. It is a very important safeguard in every appliance and practically every appliance in your home has one.

Like appliances, people need fuses too. The world is full of influences, both negative and positive. Modern marketing focuses on identifying and fueling your desires, many of which are destructive. Alcohol commercials, for example, focus on the pleasure and not the after effects.

When these desires are strong, we are powerless to resist them. We may think this is where self-control comes into play. True, but what if this desire is so strong that our self-will or will power cannot stop us? What do we do then? This is where a ‘fuse’ becomes critical, something to automatically collapse to prevent danger from crossing. What then is this ‘fuse’ for our lives?

In human terms, a fuse is someone in our lives who we can trust over our own best judgment.  Even when we want to follow our desires, there must be someone else’s voice that can guide us; whether we feel like accepting that guidance or not.  The fuse normally senses when the incoming surge of electricity is too much for the equipment; it then blocks its path to prevent the equipment from being destroyed. The equipment is safeguarded when the fuse is empowered to act.

Even when we are falling deep into desire there should be someone we are connected to, whom we trust to show us the potential danger from these overwhelming desires.
