If your answer is no, then you’re actually not alone. In fact, there are many persons who struggle with finding their true selves. In a world that dictates who we should be, and how we should act, it’s easier to become just another clone of society’s ideal. The problem with that is when we don’t see ourselves matching up to this prototype. From an early age, for girls, they are flooded with notions of being a beautiful princess who gets the handsome guy and lives happily ever after, and for guys, they are oftentimes depicted as the wealthy prince who wins over the beautiful lady. Sounds great right? However, reality never follows that script. When we have unrealistic expectations then we can only but be miserable and end up living isolated lives.

We tend to live isolated lives when we are stuck in the thought that we are different. The amazing thing is that our differences are what makes us so unique. The more amazing thing is that the “me” that we have been living with may very well be a downplayed version of our true selves. When we look at Mike Tyson, he had a mentor, Constantine D’Amato who saw not the Mike on the outside but the Mike that was locked inside. Just like Mike Tyson, we also need someone who can lead us to the point of unlocking our true selves.

Who I am is not the person I see with my own eyes. My judgement is oftentimes clouded by the many faults and weaknesses I see. Imagine if Mike was to focus on how he saw himself, especially when he makes mistakes or is seemingly failing. That is why it is so important to borrow another pair of eyes. Eyes that can see beneath the weaknesses and beyond it. We are greater than we think we are. I should never focus on the me that I see but rather the “me” that I can become. That is my true self.

Do you have a mentor guiding your life?[/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″][vc_raw_html]JTNDc3R5bGUlM0UlMEEuZW50cnktdGh1bWIlMjBpbWclMjAlN0IlMEElMjAlMjAlMjAlMjBtYXgtaGVpZ2h0JTNBJTIwNDAwcHglM0IlMEElN0QlMEElMEEucG9zdC1jb250ZW50JTIwJTdCJTBBJTIwJTIwJTIwJTIwdGV4dC1hbGlnbiUzQSUyMGp1c3RpZnklM0IlMEElMjAlMjAlMjAlMjB0ZXh0LWp1c3RpZnklM0ElMjBpbnRlci13b3JkJTNCJTBBJTdEJTBBJTNDJTJGc3R5bGUlM0U=[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]
